How Much Freezer Stash Do You Need?

Most lactation consultants recommend building a freezer stash of at least 2 weeks' worth of milk before returning to work. A 1-month stash gives you extra peace of mind.

The average baby drinks about 25 oz (750 mL) per day between 1–6 months. This means a 2-week stash is roughly 350 oz (10,500 mL), and a 1-month stash is about 750 oz (22,000 mL).

To build your milk stash efficiently, try pumping one extra session per day after your baby's morning feed — that's when supply is typically highest. Read our guide on how to build a breast milk freezer stash for more tips.
